Book Description: This unit provides an overview of the historical and social context of the Mirandese language - a minority language of Portugal. It is aimed at anyone who is interested in minority and/or endangered languages, especially teachers and educators. The unit is fully bilingual in Mirandese and English.The unit has four chapters that follow the same structure as the other OWL+ units. All chapters include at least one interactive activity or quiz as a way of testing or reflecting on the facts and situations presented throughout the module. We recommend that you follow the unit chapter by chapter, but you're welcome to explore it freely using the navigation panel, as most interactive sections can be used and experienced as standalone activities.

A língua mirandesa, luz de Miranda, luz de Portugal
Toda a informação abaixo está relacionada com a língua mirandesa – língua minoritária de
Portugal – e pretende contextualizá-la historicamente e, bem assim, nos vários campos de registo
que a todas as línguas vivas se oferecem.
Está destinado a todos os interessados pelas línguas minoritárias em geral e pela língua
mirandesa em particular. Pretende-se apresentar a informação de forma apelativa e que o nível
de interatividade seja elevado.
Existem quatro capítulos, que se pretendem numa sequência lógica, e todos eles divididos em
trechos que abordam aspetos concretos da língua. Todos os capítulos incorporam uma atividade
interativa, como forma lúdica de testar a assimilação da informação recebida. O conjunto da
informação pretende oferecer uma visão holística sobre a história e situação presente da língua
mirandesa.
Pretende-se que o visitante possa navegar livremente pela informação e atividades sem
necessariamente ter uma sequência predefinida.
